What is a cookie?
A cookie is information stored on your hard disk by a Web site that you visit. Cookies often store your settings, settings for a website, such as your preferred language or address. Upon re-opening the same website on a later occassion, Internet browser sends back the cookies belonging to the particular, thus allowing the site to display information tailored to your needs and preferences.
Cookies can store a wide range of information, including personal information (such as your name or email address). However, this information can be saved only if you permit it - a website can not get access the information that you didn't write voluntarily, neither can it access other files on your computer. The default activity of saving and sending cookies are not visible to you. However, you can change your Internet browser settings where you can choose to either make specific selection requirements for storing cookies or to delete stored cookies automatically upon closing the Internet browser.
